The main difference between the Nookie Blaze Suit, compared with the Nookie Charger Drysuit, is simply the choice of neck.
The Charger offers a drier, more traditional water tight seal with a double neck of latex with an outer layer of neoprene for protection of the latex and to reduce extra water ingress.
The Blaze is a much more comfortable choice with a soft, adjustable, single neoprene neck, but is not a completely dry seal so you may notice a little more water getting through. It is a very popular suit due to the additional comfort.

Design & Development - U.K. Manufacturing

Every Nookie product is different and takes a different route, but the core qualities of our design process are always the same.
Left - Circa 1991 through to Right - Current Day.
Nookie was extablished in 1991 in the front room of a small cottage in Clearbrook in Devon with a public red telephone box on the road as its business contact number. It now occupies a busy factory over the border in Cornwall where we make a substantial percentage of our product range. We have always made products in the U.K and we like to choose British whenever possible.

We strongly believe in customer-led design and the development of all of our products comes from feedback of our customers, retailers and our team of product testers; the riders.

Hand designed patterns for a perfect fit.
All of our products start their life in our design studio in the Nookie factory.

They often start with discussions about either a new or re-development of a product concept, be that from a team rider, an outdoor activity centre manager or our internal team, then the doodling starts.

Hand sketching concept products.
Those doodles then get devloped into workable patterns. There's a number of ways this happens. If it's to be made on our U.K. production line we start with some concept sketches and block patterns. Our expert pattern drawer develops these patterns hand in hand with the sketches to make sample products. Those samples are reviewed regarding form, function and ease of construction before being streamlined for our production line.

Samples cut by hand.
Quality control is a fundamental part of our manufacturing process. We are proud of the high quality construction and finish of our garments. You only need to turn one of our products inside-out to see the flawless colour matched waterproof taping to re-assured of our British made quality.

Every Drysuit Pressure Tested.

We don't just test one in a batch, we test every single one. From our experience, if there is a small leak in a seam it's a minor imperfection and cannot be accounted for statistically, so we don't trust just a visual inspection we choose to pressure test every single suit to be confident in every drysuit that leaves our factory.

We're the first to admit that not all of our products are, or will be, made in the UK. The simple fact is that some of the technologies and expertise used in the manufacture of our highly technical specialist equipment are more advanced overseas. We make sure we choose the best producer for each of our products, wherever they are in the World. All of our products are designed in Cornwall to make sure function and quality are at the forefront of our range.

Battle to be King or Queen - Road Tripping

It's that time of year when the UK paddlers make their way over the border for some sun, snow melt paddling and local culture (ahem beer).
The Nookie Team have been traversing the continent in search of sweet lines already this season.

Tom Wah has been putting the NEW Nookie Short Sleeve Ti Vest through its paces out in Slovenia.

Go Pro - King Of The Alps- 9/10/11 June 2017

The most exciting mass start marathon whitewater race is due to start this Saturday in Moos, Italy. Nookie Team Rider Bobby McKee (King Bob to his friends) will be there to defend his title, and local boy and Nookie Team Rider, Daniel Klotzner will be looking to regain his royal status once more.
With an incredible atmosphere, and great prizes this is an event not to miss.

Nookie's RUSH under fire

Follow me with this test report of the RUSH to Patagonia.

The test conditions in brief:

- Test period: 21 days.
- Test area: Chile and Argentina (January / February).
- Test temperature: from 05 °C (07:00 h in the morning) to 25 °C
- Skill level: whitewater III – V

Nookie has designed a new high-end semi dry paddle jacket in their work’s own factory in Cornwall. Loyal to their motto – Quality, Made in the UK – the design, the production and the quality check flows out of their own hand. The result can be seen!

Not only the look of conspicuous yellow, but also the high-quality processing of waterproof, but still breathable combination of EvoTX4 4ply and 3ply materials are impressive.

The question of the performance is quickly answered. The convincing solution of the glideskin neoprene neck together with the individual adjustable elastic power band enhances this semi dry jacket almost to a dry jacket without losing the “free” feeling of a neoprene neck. On warmer days, I combined the Rush together with the ¾ Neoprene Wetsuit Strides, on colder days with the double waist Bib Dry Trousers. The features are topped of the ergonomic cut, offering a great spectrum of movement, which is usual for a slalom sport jacket.

The double waist is very comfortably to pull. The final set-up is reached together with the adjustable outer waist tube and it’s perfectly working velcro. This synergy is categorically damming out the water.

Conclusion:
The Rush is a very balanced semi-dry paddle jacket, not only for the extreme creeking athlete. The processing, the wearing comfort and the movement space are conjuring a smile on every face using it for sea kayaking, touring, easy whitewater paddling right up to the heavy waters of Patagonia.

See you all on the water and stay always safe!
